Goodbye, 2008. Hello, 2009.

December 31, 2008

I wasn’t going to write a post for today.  It’s New Year’s Eve, and I’m still mostly on holiday hiatus from work.  As the year comes to a close, I felt it only appropriate to give thanks. I’ve been very blessed in 2008.  Thank you, God, I’m alive.  At a time of such trouble in the U.S. and the world, I have a roof over my head.  Food to eat.  Clothes on my back.  There are too many people right now who can’t say that.

I launched my stationery company this year after 2.5 years of planning, planning, planning. I learned how to run my design business better.  I’ve met some awesome people - new friends, new colleagues, new mentors.  You rock, and I look forward to growing our relationships.  Thank you.

I have a slew of good friends from coast to coast.  Some of you have been there for me since 3rd grade and 6th grade, some only within the past couple of years, and there are many of you who fall somewhere in the middle.  I cherish you all.  Thank you.

I have a family that loves me and supports me.  You’re priceless.  Thank you.

Bottom line - I have no complaints.  Life is not perfect, but I look behind me and see the beauty in every day, even the miserable ones.  And believe me, there have been a few of those.  I’m human.

There will be some huge changes for me in 2009.  I have visions of who, what, and where I want to be - and I’m working on plans to meet those ends.  It won’t be easy - change is never easy - but I welcome the challenge.

What are some of your plans to make the new year rock?

Here’s to 2009.

Cheers -
K.
