eBay obsession: Vintage brooches

January 30, 2009

Attention, ladies!  Brooches are not just for your grandmother anymore.  They’re perfect to add some sparkle to a sweater, coat, or even a tote bag.

I’ve bought several cute brooches on eBay over the past year or so.  Here are 4 fashion finds that I love and that you just might love, too.

Vintage Silver Marcasite Monogram Brooch

What’s that?  Your initials aren’t “RSR?”  So what?  If you’ve got enough moxie or simply happen to appreciate the beauty of this brooch, you’ll rock it anyway.  (I would.)  Keep them guessing.  “RSR?  I thought your name was Jeanette… ?”

The sparkly silver and marcasite stones should be enough to overcome any initial objections.

“Initial” objections.  Get it?  All right, I’ll stop.

Elegant Rhinestone Branch Pin

This rhinestone pin would look bright and feminine pinned to a winter coat.

Vintage Sterling Silver Treble Clef Brooch

This pin is clearly for someone who likes to rock out with her clef out.

Yes, this pin has become a bit tarnished - as long-unworn silver pieces are wont to do - but an inexpensive polishing cloth or some Tarn-X (available at most grocery stores) would make this sterling silver shine again.

Vintage Silver Purple Stone Brooch

This ornate pin has a gorgeous purple stone to add a little bit of color to a drab winter day.  Try it against a black or gray top to really make it pop.
